Its clear this wasn't the first load of macadam that had been dumped there and there was a guy on the ground who looked like he was checking the distance between the bed and the power lines.
The bed did not touch the lines or they would have burnt into instantly so it was purely a matter of voltage jump. maybe the bed got closer then previously or the humidity had gone up or the wind caused the lines to move up and down, or more probably they had just been lucky so far.

It would seem that the belly in the lines were not properly considered as well as the small rise in the truck as the load was reduced. Maybe they should have dumped all loads before spreading which in itself reduced clearance. The jurking didn't help either.

When working at local authority a driver hit lines which is a fairly common thing apparently. He was electricuted but survived. Govt ads promote "look up & live".

These guys were courting danger.

The belly in the lines can change with load hence temperature of the lines. More load, more heat, more sag. Wonder if this came into play.

Yep Eric. For the many reasons, we have an exclusion zone of 3 metres & with high voltage it increases to 6m or 8m. those guys were tempting fate.

Wait for it....Wait for it.....Sqrzzzzzttzzz. Looked like perhaps one was touching and got close enough to the second one to arc across. Surprised he didn't loose control and go roaring down the hill. Don't worry honey, it'll grow back.
