    Rebar wooly mammoth sculpture - GIF

    Life-sized wooly mammoth sculpture made out of rebar. The 7,000-pound sculpture can be found at the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin.

    anyone know how the tusks were made? stainless tapered tubing? cast/wrought aluminium?

    The tusks appear to have a small amount of porosity and may be cast aluminum. Possibly cast stainless steel. If so, those would be some challenging molds to make.

    The artist's website doesn't detail the construction, but does have a photo at another angle showing a similarly impressive sculpture of a Neanderthal wielding a spear in front of the mammoth.
