It amazes me that all of the thrust from and all of the weight of the engine is carried through only three mounting pins, and that those pins are engineered to fail so that the engine falls off to prevent wing damage.
The amount of thought that goes into making planes work safely is mind-boggling even before considering the fact that it's all hidden under a boring appearance.
