I live in an old area. A lot of houses have stone foundations and mud cellars. My father was a carpenter, and 20 years ago I helped him jack up a few houses and put foundations under them. It's a pretty common occurrence to see a house jacked up in the air around here.

But having done this job before, I would say they went a bit crazy with their height. You don't need to lift these things nearly that much.
