How do they texture it?

There are two ways that I know, but there may be more. The one I grew up seeing in TV ads is to use a textured card or paper on the vinyl schmoo while curing it with a clothing iron. I think they're using a texturizing spray in this clip since they seem to be curing the schmoo with a heat gun while it's still flat.
This kind of repair would almost certainly require "re-dyeing", AKA vinyl-specific paint, unless you could dye the schmoo.

When I was a kid, about 45 years ago if I remember right there were adds on TV for this stuff. They had a texture iron on thing that reproduced something akin to leather. The filler was coloured back then. Not opaque. Pretty sure the spray was a colourant.

I remember those TV spots. The stuff was called “New
Vinyl” or something similar. They made it look like all you had to do was smear the goo and tap it with the piece of paper and it looked like brand new. They never mentioned having to dye the repair.
