    Put a bearing on the end of the truing stick or use one made of hard wood to prevent cutting away more material. When you reduce the weight of a cymbal you alter the note it produces. The same goes for when you alter the shape

    Based on the swarf already there when he starts, I think this is part of manufacturing, not a restoration, and any change in shape or weight is calculated into the final product.
