In the case of small threads (5mm and lower) or an emergency one can (temporalily) modify a pop rivet tong: Remove the threaded plug, then the spring, then the 2 or 3 claws and the 'mouth'. Then insert from the top opening a bolt with the desired thread (washer under the head) and appropriate lenght. Screw a rivet nut onto the bolt for not losing bolt and washer. (Yes: I have a 2nd tong plus bolts with knurled large heads just for riveting nuts.)

Does anyone understand this "fad" of MIG welding with spot, spot, spot, spot, spot?

Why not just set the correct voltage and wire speed and do a weld bead?

I get that maybe you cannot get around the circle in one pass without a positioner, but certainly three arcs will do.

I see it on many yt videos and wonder is it just one of those "I learned to weld on yt" things?

    Thanks,
    Brian
