My 2018 Honda Accord has no gas cap. Once the door is opened by pressing it, the pump spout can be inserted directly into the fill tube; nothing needs to be capped when filling is completed.

I suspect similar arrangements exist on more modern vehicles.

My 2021 Silverado has the same setup. No filler cap.

Good catch! This is a flap that is opened and a cap that is unscrewed.

There is an insta video of it in operation and the robot does open the door, unscrew the cap, pick up the nozzle, etc. etc.
