A floor mounted turn table achieves the same but much simpler.
We had one in our business premises for years without problem.
Driver had to get out of the vehicle to operate it with a wall mounted control, so as to force driver to check he was properly stopped on it.

I agree, the use of a simple turn table, would have more efficient.
