    Router table : simple router lift system

    I have recently spent some hours rebuilding a new router table, I will show it in the next post, here is a focus on my router lift system.
    It's far simpler and more rustic than the intricate systems we usually see.



    There are two metal strips that wrap around two 8mm rods which are inserted and locked in place of the standard parallel guide for the router :


    At the opposite, there is a wooden core piece, threaded in the middle, and a big set screw (with the wooden knob) that pushes the body of the router upwards. The wing nut stands for locking the screw in place, because of the vibrations of the router :
    There is a little piece of metal sheet stuck on the plastic body of the router in front of the end of the screw to avoid the wear.


    Here it is, shown upside down :
    You can notice how I hold the switch on with a inner tube strip (I do almost everything with inner tube strips )
    Of course, once setup, I use the built in locking system of the router to lock the depth of cut.
