RECITE BEFORE STARTING

One, two:
Thought it through? What’s to do?
Check again! One, two, three.
HAVE I REMOVED THE KEY?
And is the turn impedance free?
One, two, three, four:
Is all SECURE? Am I sure?
Nothing loose upon machine?
Surfaces all spotless clean?
Five, six, seven, eight:
Depth of cut? Revolving rate?
Safety specs? Am I ready?
Remember, do, to keep it steady.
Seven, eight, nine, ten:
Being CERTAIN, switch on then.

If you got to here, it’s just to say that I have, despite being a novice, been nominated to be in charge of the lathe/mill in the Men’s Shed. This is because I shall be the main user, others more interested in woodwork, it seems. I joined the Shed especially hoping to gain tuition in metal machining, previous efforts entirely unsuccessful, despite great expense. Teaching is reckoned to be the best way of remembering what you have learned.
I am much more qualified to write verse compared to being a machinist.
Statutory notices are everywhere, so not much perceived. Like safety signs you pass when driving.
If I have omitted anything essential, kindly advise. Thanks.
