What do they add to the sawdust to act as a binder?

Water only (inherent moisture, or even added).
3rd world recipe: 1 pail of water to 2 pails of sawdust. Leave overnight. Press. Leave to dry/ cool.

When pressed, the water gets hot enough to make the polycyclic biopolymer lignine in the wood to act as a binder.
If the briquette is pressed too hard, and not left to cool it could even set itself on fire. Has happened when palleted too early.

Interesting! I'd like to see a better view of the press chamber underneath the sawdust hopper.
