Well I braved the Q at the post office to pick up a parcel from Alli Express. It was the 4000W SCR Voltage Regulator I have been waiting for for more than 4 months.

As I was going to use it to regulate an element I wanted to fit a fan to help with the cooling.

This is where the actual plan comes in. Never just ditch something because it is broken or out dated. I always save the power supplies from the computers as they become out dated. So I gutted a 250W power supply retaining the plugs and fan. Unfortunately this one did not have a switch.

I then fitted the SCR so the heat sink is in line with the fan. i added a tell tail light so I would know it is on. The fan needed 12V so a R40 220v/12V power supply was de housed and also fitted to drive the fan.

I also used an old multi plug adaptor that was basically also outdated as we are slowly moving to 2 pin plugs.

You can see the tell tail light on the front panel. I will print a nice face for it once I have it calibrated to witch setting gives me witch temperature.

So on this last day of 2020, stay healthy and recycle.
