I only use such deburring tools on stationary items. When a turned item needs manual deburring in a lathe I use a traditional 3 cornered scraper. It is simply a better tool for the job.
That tool is designed to be used by hand, it is not a machine tool bit. Even dulled, it would probably work better removing burrs if the part wasn't turning in the lathe under power. And I think if you need to resharpen it, a diamond rat tail file would work fine, and not remove as much material. It also doesn't risk removing the temper of the deburring tool if it's high carbon tool steel. Did a quick search, and Noga blades are HSS, so it wouldn't be a factor for them. I believe the ones I have are not a name brand, and are tool steel, so YMMV. I will say that I've been using the same blade in my class for most of the past 7 years. I do not use it on material that's turning in a lathe. It is a hand tool, and I use it as such. Though it is good to know they can be sharpened. ;)Quote:
