I, too, admire his skills. However I cringe at the lack of eye protection. He doesn't appear to be working in the stereotypical "black hole" - its clean and he has adequate space around him. Sparks are so little but they fly so fast, and an eyeball is so soft.

Yep. To soon we get old. To late we get smart.

Ear protection only after the loss is noticeable. Eye protection after the safety squints fail one to many times.

Having grown up the son of an ophthalmologist I was very aware of eye protection. I later worked as a government inspector of occupational heath and safety and my own hearing protection became important to me, to the extent that I wore my moulded hearing protectors while cutting my grass - very unusual in the society I lived in. Sadly, my meticulous care did not prevent hearing loss in one ear later in life, but the audiologist attributes that to a viral infection. I have a valid excuse for not hearing my wife if my good ear is covered by the pillow!

Those kind of skills are 3rd world in my book; serviceable on the part of the worker, ignorant management.
Is a black hole; equipment and work calling for a ~3" bit with a #6 Morse taper...but no drill grinding fixture, let alone a drill grinder? A disc sander works far better for wide areas, maintaining equal angles and widths of large bits.
Nice little water bucket, waist high? Not even. A1 grade black hole.
Search revealed around a 3" diameter bit @ $600 USD in HSS, with unknown country of manufacture. And when it doesn't say, they really don't want you to know...

Personal campaign toward China products is in more a full swing than before. This COVID19 s**t was last straw for me. The Machine Tool Blue Book predicted many issues they foresaw with off-shoring, and every one of them occurs, regularly. I purged off-brand stuff a good time back. I have more reliance on name brands, even if sourced in China, if I already own it. But new purchases I scrutinize. And when the info is hard to find, no deal.

Sure, 2-1/4" after 10 years. What size was it when sharpened so long ago?

No, he does NOT know what he's doing. All that PPE, and no EYEPRO?!? You can see hot metal shards shooting toward his face.
