I am like robin hood with the magic key to the carts
Who caries change? I use the credit card and get 4% cash back
Can't recall ever visiting anywhere where they locked up their shopping carts.
I did stop at a mall once in Spain there they validated my parking ticket with my purchase slip so I got free parking.
In Kitchener Ontario
there are 3 stores that have keyed carts
fresh CO a bulk store and 1 of 3 Walmart's
the small end is 25 cents the big end is 1$
Throughout the midwest is a grocery chain from Germany called Aldi, the brother of this Aldi chain owner has Trader Joe stores throughout the USA.Quote:

Locked carts must be a royal pain for the disabled. Either it costs them more than others or it requires them to travel twice as far to get their coin back. Not everyone has a printer either. Luckily, i have not seen one yet in my town or surrounding areas.
Depending where you live the benefits are good (no lose carts hitting your car)
People will do any thing to get back 25 Cents
When I was a kid my brother would take the bus to the Toronto Pearson airport about 120 kilometers
And collect the luggage carts in the garage and return them to the terminal for a dollar a each
At Aldi they normally change your cart at the cash so you would be making 25 cents on the deal by depriving somebody else of their quarter. I quite like the system because it forces people to push their carts home properly and they do not spill out into the parking lot.
