Even I a non boater would say the boat was proceeding at much to fast a speed, just asking for trouble.

I bet there is one boat cpt. or harbor pilot who just lost his ticket
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

not knowing any circumstances, but that many errors would make me look at the pilot for a health/ impairment issue.

While the boat is traveling towards its eventual collision, there doesn't seem to any disturbance of the water aft of the stern. Is it possible that the engine isn't turning over and they're floating at the mercy of the current?

After the collision there's a tiny disturbance of the water and what looks to be an oil slick behind the stern. Maybe a bilge pump discharging oily water?

Seems like they're coasting up until the 2nd collision, then after that hit, at 1:08 it seems to go "1/2 forward with 1/2 starboard rudder" 'til 1:27.

I'd guess that they had a mechanical failure and couldn't get their port engine to disengage.

If you can't make it precise make it adjustable.
