Which gear rack was the videographer connected to?
Horrible vid, middle ten or so seconds were sufficient.
The mechanical aspect would have taken some inventive means to design; and who knows how many prototypes or modifications occurred.
Paused action at right [wrong] moment. When I returned, WTH are those crossed box-end wrenches doing?...Oh, they're extension springs. That made more sense.
    Sincerely,

Почти 120 лет в строю и работает как часы. Чистая механика, даже электродвигатель можно считать усовершенствованием прошлого века.

There's a good example of a machine that 0s and 1s didn't improve on all that much.

Besides those extracted via pencil and paper, or slide rule.

Wouldn't it be interesting to know time from concept to operative production machine.

    Wow!

It reminds me of an old American patent for making slotted panels for reed organs and melodeons, though I’ve only seen the results and not the machine itself. Scientific American had a short article about the manufacturer who invented and used it but I can’t find it now.

    https://patents.google.com/patent/US15061

I think some places continued making them with manually guided machines a long time afterwards.
