    Tailgate for the 91 F250

When I got the 91 F250 extended cab Diesel pickup it was missing the tailgate as could be expected for a nearly 30 year old beater of a work truck.
But sometimes I want to haul smaller things that would otherwise be difficult to tie in the bed. Most farmers around here would simply toss a few sacks of grain of feed in the bed and never think twice about even closing their tailgates if they haven't already removed them.
I'm not quite that way I like having a bit more secured load.
Not willing to search around in a junk yard 75 miles away for something that may not even exist anyway or would be even more beat up than the old truck like the tailgate on my 93 F350 that will only stay closed if I keep a 2" load strap on it. I decided to toss a tailgate together that serve my purpose and stay closed
the tailgate is made out of 1 1/4" pipe 1/4x2 flat bar and 1" 9ga expanded metal
This is true function over form just the way I like things

the gate is held closed by 7 inch long drop pins made out of 5/8" sucker rod through a 3 inch long piece of 3/4" pipe with a nut welded to 1 end to keep them from falling through.

once dropped in place they rest behind the original latch studs in the sided of the bed They are long enough and have enough weight that nothing short of flipping the truck upside down is going to allow the tailgate to open unless I want it open
