How fast the platter moves is determined by the motor speed and wheel size. You can slow the table by reducing the outer diameter of the rollers. The plate rotates faster than the spider because it's driven by the wheels, which roll on the table top as they're pushed from the center by the spider.
You could make up for the smaller wheel diameter without altering the motor and center bearing height by building up the raceways on the tabletop and underside of the platter.

Sorry Neil, but the rotational speed has nothing to do with the size of the outer wheels, only the motor speed. The wheels do not drive it!

Some are direct-drive, but not all. If the platter has the drive lugs and a support ring with wheels, then it's direct-drive and the motor speed is the only factor in platter speed. If it has a drive spider on which the platter rests, then the motor drives the spider, which pushes the wheels from their hubs, and the platter rolls on and is driven by the wheels.

Neil...we are talking about THIS POST! Why do you bother to infer some other drive option? Please do so in another post so as not to create confusion. The drive in this post is direct drive only & I will stand by my comment that the size of the outer wheels have NOTHING to do with the rotational speed!

First, the OP's microwave unit *is* the spider type, so was originally driven by the wheels. He's changed that by adding rubber bushings between the spider and platter, but those can be removed, returning it to wheel-driven. Consider that before judging the relevance of my idea.

Second, it was just an idea. Not an instruction. OP is free to accept or not. I'd take no offense. That's how this group (well.. most of it anyhow) works.

    Third, why so rude?
