My first thought was welcome to future world where nothing can go wrong ,go wrong, go wrong. Then suddenly you have accidental mass 4th degree homicide.
However on the flip side of this what a perfect way to rid the world of a group of undesirables at the same time with plausible deniability. Cause of death, accidental due to an unforeseeable malfunction of technology. NEXT?

Yep and at least a couple of them show extreme trepidation

Ahhh, late Victorian era salesmanship, wanting to industrialize everything....note sign, behind the men sitting.
"The new shaving machine whereby a number of persons may BE DONE at the same time with expedition EASE AND SAFETY".
Cleverly hidden disclaimer in "BE DONE"; (as in done away with, lol).
One man stands behind row of seats; the barber's attorney, early OSHA inspector, paid witness or just trapped?
A notary holding their last will and testaments?
Mafia lieutenant screening his half of a jury?
    Post service cashier?
How's a single barber manage 5 conversations simultaneously?
The indexing rail in front certainly was tied to the headrests, yet not sufficient tools for anything "at the same time".
There are six subjects, with at least three different facial hair styles, and they are not sextuplets!
Is far left gentleman just a model, no beard or shaving cream but shorter than the others...so does #2 just sit and listen while others in turn await fate?
Were crew sized First Aid kits included, with a bucket for ears?
Speaking of trepidation; I cannot decide which expression is best, #2 , #3 , and #6 looks ready to bail out. 'Do I hop the rail or roll out below?'.

    and like all classic marketing...
What amount of time is spent slithering between patrons to towel up, apply shaving cream, and seat, comparing one or two laps around a chair?

Well, good midday diversion. Too hot for outside work!

Certainly glad some "innovations" failed to get adopted. This is one that I am surprised they could find volunteers to "try"
