and, if the audience becomes unruly during a performance, it's easy to "put them in their place", so to speak

Or if they happen to be nodding off during a boring performance or lecture set it on a 1/8 repetitive cycle to keep them alert
Never try to tell me it can't be done

The mechanism is brilliant. It had never occurred to me that a chain could be made temporarily rigid. They seem to be held from folding by braces and guides in the support columns.

There's a FB group called Fictitious Band Name Repository. This would be a good entry for that.

The politicians inflate their reputations by building massively expensive stadiums that can rearrange themselves, e.g....

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloha_Stadium

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympi...ium_(Montreal)

all for a bunch of dumbass sports.

Bread and circus; meanwhile the vital infrastructure rots away.

Why, exactly, do the seats in a concert hall need to be able to disappear? What sort of performance is done with the audience standing?

Does the expense of all this dubious technology guarantee that ticket prices will be out of reach for the people who might have sat in conventional seating?

OK, rant over. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Makes me think it's a sort of a repeat of ancient Roman emperors, it's meant to distract the people.
