I might climb it but I would be wearing a parachute, because no way am I going to miss that opportunity to not have to descend all of those rungs

    Earning it

My daughter wants to do this job when she becomes an adult. It pays pretty well, but it has a shockingly high workplace fatality rate. From tower climbers on YouTube we learned that climbing these lug style towers is particularly exhausting, much more so than a ladder climb.

My knees would never survive that climb. As it is now, I can hear them creaking and grinding just going up a short flight of steps.

But, that view would be awesome.

Now it's time to camp out and change the lamp at the top, whether it needs it or not! The free climb on that tower is probably about 100 ft or so. You get to climb that AFTER the first 1900 feet inside an ever narrowing cage. I'm surprised it's a solo climb. Typically they service all of the beacons on the way up and it takes a second person to haul the equipment. Maybe he left that guy at the last beacon? I wonder how long the whole climb takes?

Frank the parachute would work. There are guy wires. I doubt I could make that climb now. But what a view. Especially on a clear day.

easier to dodge guy wires during the day than highline wires at night
