    Soft Vise Jaws

Nice work! Those soft vise jaws are great to have! I have a set just like those I made from copper water tubing about 20 years ago. I still use the same original set to this day.

Rather than fussing with screws and interchanging vise jaws, I elected to mill the back of the prismatic jaw to slip over and self align on the existing jaw on my Panavise. Then I slightly counterbored and glued in some magnets to hold the prismatic jaw on the existing jaw. Details and photos can be found here...

    Prismatic jaw for Panavise

The extra wooden plate to spread the load of the vise on the bench is a good idea. My bench vise was already mounted when the idea occurred to me. I didn't want to drill any new holes in the bench through which to attach the plate so I copied the vise bolt circle pattern onto the plate and mounted the vise with the plate on the underside of the bench top. It required some longer bolts but now the vise is much more stable.
