Shim washers and a holder to bore them to size

it is not always easy or economical to find the correct size and thickness of shim washers.
Standard washers with the correct ID will have too large an OD and be way too thick in most cases. And I wasn't about to spend upwards of 5 or 6 bucks per washer to be special made and wait how many years ??? with the way things take months to get now days.
But I had a bin full of thin fender washers the correct OD and thickness the hole was just way too small.
No problem just bore them out. but I was not going to bore them 1 at a time.
I made holder to enable me to bore 12 at a time. The project requires 8 so if I do 2 runs of them I will have enough for 3 machines

Great tip Frank S. I think this classifies as a lantern chuck.
Advising readers that a cap will secure them, providing there is a significant hex or square for tightening. Plug style works too, with the end under thread diameter imparting pressure; might also be less dependent on quantity to fill and clamp.

I guess you are right it probably does qualify as a lantern chuck, I've always thought of lantern chucks as some delicate thing for holding tiny little screws by the head. But nothing says things have to be small to have the same name. I have a 26" lathe in my machine shop van that LeBlond Classified it as a tool room/ gun smiths lathe Their analogy is it has an extra wide bed and disproportionally long wings on the carriage. I noticed that it has 126 possible thread pitch combinations and a simple change of a cople of gears on the feed drive will give it 126 different pitches I may never run out of thread combinations on it

That's always been my definition, wide bed and carriage wings, lots of thread/ feed combinations. Trouble with that, most gunsmiths don't have a real lathe. Getting a barrel down a puny spindle bore is enough, chamber reaming in a steady rest etc.
An early gunsmith lathe project was barrel of a 1847 Walker-Colt replica. The cylinder end went fine, had to build jaws for work on muzzle end. Frame too large to get into spindle bore of 2-1/16", too much stick out for indicating rifled surface.
