Looks like the guys on the ends started to tilt the slab of marble over before the guys near the center could get a grip on it because they had to kick the cart out of the way first, just another example of getting in too much of a hurry because it was heavy.

how should a job like this be done? I imagine allowing the sheet to flex in any way would be an issue, so should it be rotated in a frame? supported on bars?

I have friends that pour concrete countertops and ones that big they pour in place. But I agree. I would have laid flat across some boards and and then pulled them out. The cutout in the middle was going to be a weak point and you’d thought they would’ve known that.

Hard to tell if it was marble or quartz. Either way, it's upwards of $100 to $150 per sf installed. That guy's going to have to install the countertop for free! All they had to do was take two steps away from the base and turn it flat then walk it over and set it down nice and easy. Which is easy for me to say after the fact!

I think you may have dropped zero or 2 unless you meant per square foot

It looks like concrete from the bottom but marble on the top. Maybe a faux marble finish? The way it broke I would think it is concrete. Maybe should have cured a little more.

No, it is a slab alright. In full screen stop action starting at 0:12 you can see the dark vein going all the way through at an angle consistent with the way veins run
