Hi All
As a model engineer I like to carry lots of different size stock so I can just get on with the components that needs to be made. But I ran in to trouble when storing the material and couldn’t always find the size I needed as it would be at the bottom of the box and having to move ever bit on top was a tedious job. So to make things worse I would just buy more stock. So getting frustrated at this problem I decided to do something about it. I didn’t want to spend a lot. (As normal).
The stock I buy tends to be in two foot length’s so I didn’t want to store the stock vertically as shorter pieces would again be lost. So the solution was to buy square rain down pipe to fit under the bench and separate the stock into some sort of size order and material to make it easier and quicker to find the stock needed.
Initially I was concerned about the weight being held in the plastic but was very happy with the results. The stock is so much easier to see and find now it is stored correctly. The other thing I am really pleased with is otherwise wasted space can be utilised by stacking the drain pipe.
Stock is a lot easier to find and remove from the new storage
Stacked up under bench which would normally be wasted space.
Utilising space between two benches.
I am sure this is not an original idea but it has made my life workshop time a lot more enjoyable.
Many thanks
The Home Engineer
