We've found that simple latches confuse people, some can't get our front gate open because the latch is a decorative scroll that you lift up and to the right. Even had people pull the peg from the fixed gate and try to push things open.
I guess if it doesn't have an iFone connection they can't get in.
I have a stainless ice chest near my mailbox for the Amazorons to leave my packages in and I've had to start leaving it unlatched because half of them can't figure out how to work the latch and rip it out of the lid.
Here's our super complicated genius level gate latch. My wife made those gates and said she never thought she was making an intelligence test.

That's a nice, arty latch on that gate.

Good security if people are too stupid to know how that one works. You can't even make instructions, because most of them wouldn't read the instructions!
That reminded me of the "Taranaki Gate" which was common on many farm back in the 1950's. Siple but effective.Quote:

We employed old harness hames for (wire) gate latches. Easy to hook up.
The curves in them lent them well for the purpose and the ball end was convenient.
I don't suppose there would be too many around anymore, but if you can find them, they re-purpose well.
