I imagine turns are rough on the truck bed and sides of the box!

But why? It can move on it's own and you wouldn't want to go faster than it can move by itself anyway.

Whenever possible a contractor will avoid walking an excavator any further than necessary. They are notoriously slow; many will only move about as fast as a man can walk. That machine weighs a little less than 57000 lbs roughly half the weight would be on that axle. By loading a few cubic yards of dirt in the truck bed he could move and maneuver around an extended job site at probably 20 MPH without worry of damaging the road surface with the tracks and reduce wear on the undercarriage. In some countries he could probably get away with moving several miles from jobsite to job site.
