Interesting frequency harmonics there...only the middle tower is swaying. modern skyscrapers have extensive damper structures to prevent swaying in the wind and in earthquakes. The frequency of the earth movement must have synched with the height of that particular tower, and not with the other two.

That's interesting and a massive oversight on the part of the engineers. Why on earth wouldn't you tune each structure to have the same natural frequency if you're going to connect them with a bridge?

It's possible that that one had something go wrong with it's damper system.

I know that many high risaes have a heavy swinging weight at the top that counteracts sway. too. The article I saw mentioned the Citicorp building in NYC which has a 300 ton one at the. top of the building.

Not sure and not an engineer. But why would you couple together two identical frequencies? Wouldn't coupling dissimilar frequencies have a dampening effect on both?
