Nice enough slip roller, might take 16 ga x 36", having that diameter of rolls. But he'll come to hate that long crank handle, bending into a low leverage position. A remedy would be proper bench height.

A gear reduction treadmill motor with reversing would be even more convenient. Trust me it is hard to beat powered rolls
