Found this when cleaning up the shop. It was used for model airplane work but
is quite adaptable to any model making using wood for the material.
Spring loaded nylon wheels guide the saw.
I think it was built from plans form Woodsmith or Shopnotes but I don't know which issue.

little side track. the system inc the gents saw (with its fine teeth) looks fine enough to cut picture frames as well: some mouldings can't be done on a mitre saw as immitation wood mouldings tend to melt & thereby ruining the frame corners. Guillotine machines are very expensive but the best I have used for frames.

No idea where I got it from it was probably on one of those bargain counters but the 40 or 50 tooth count is great for very fine cuts
Great piece of kit, FRANK. Looks like an aluminium mitre (miter) box. I have a smaller one for cutting window screen framing. I did have a small (bit bigger than yours Frank) wooden mitre box but dont know where it is or if I still have it : i've mistakenly lent stuff over the years & some returned damaged or not returned at all. LIVE & LEARN.
My Dad always said "Don't borrow & don't lend" : I pretty much stuck with that advice but some wrangle my head space with stories & salesmanship.
Nice micro saw Frank. I think I know it's origin.
I have one myself that is at least 50 years old. Mine is an Xacto saw blade and handle used for model airplane construction.
At least that was what I used mine for. Gotta love the old tools.

Thanks JR, The only thing I remember about it is Bought it a very long time ago it still makes perfect cuts but I only use it to cut small trim mold or plastic for making the occasional picture frame. Wouldn't part with it for the $18.00 to replace it though.Quote:

Yeah Frank, I bought a 10" Makita (not sliding) miter saw in 70's and still going stong but don't use it often now as I upgraded my 10" contractor to a 12" tablesaw with sliding table=a real treat but not mobile like the old contractor & makita.That is why I haven't missed my other missing one. With a 80 tooth & 90 tooth , the makita cuts smooth as silk but needs a little tweaking to get the accurate 45 degrees so i made a template for it yonks ago.Quote:
