I was pleased to see that my suggestion was appealing enough for you to actually construct a test case. Even more impressed that it worked; so few of my ideas do.
My suggestion was inspired by my powered watch winder...

I live in an area where ice hockey is relatively unknown (thank Zeus) so, were I to build one, I would have to use rubber laboratory stoppers, of which I have a good supply...

I just hold the screw at the handle and rotate my wrist clockwise or anti clockwise, very fast. Get close to size needed and tighten up as per usual.
That works for me with the 4-inch and 6-inch C-clamps. I find it hard to do with my 1-inch and 8-inch clamps.Quote:
