This is a very dangerous thing to do!
There is a very real risk of the outer housing shattering and shrapnel flying everywhere with great force.

So right it is very dangerous, anyone caught doing this in our tool room received a written warning of dismissal. General boredom is the usual culprit from those who should otherwise know better.

It’s all good ‘till someone looses an eye.
When I was young and poor I learnt a trade, and after many years of hard work I’m not young anymore.

One of my son's friends was playing with a fidget spinner and we jigged a way to do this safely with it in a vice on the driveway, the blowgun zip tied down, and no-one in range. It failed so fast that in one frame of video it's there and in the next it's gone. It would have easily broken bones and torn flesh if it failed while someone was holding it.
