Spring curve marker

Sources for this idea came from “Fine Woodworking” contributed by Floyd Lien and from Robert Wearing’s book, “Woodwork Aids & Devices”.
The spring is in its 3rd incarnation. It was cut from a logging saw to make a spring return for my hydraulic press, hence the notches. The chain is that sort which is used in bathrooms. It is strong enough to hold a reasonable tension, but if I wanted to form a sine curve with it, I would need something stronger. This makes it adjustable. If I wanted to repeat the curve, I would just mark the ball where it is inserted in the notch at the end.

Really cool idea. I'm forever struggling to find round objects with massive radii to draw around, so this will solve that problem nicely 😝 Thanks!
