In this video I make a spring style parting tool for the lathe. This idea came from Mark from Winky's Workshop so credit goes to him. He has a number of videos showing his builds, and the testing he has done to come up with his own design (which I used in this video).

Could you grind the other end of the parting blade install it in reverse. so that the bevel is on the right instead?
I switched to a parting tool with repleacable carbide tips because there's too much play in the dovetails on my lathe's compound, and they chattered more than they cut. The carbide ones tend to shatter, so I'd rather use the blade-type for general use.

Hi Neil, yes, you could do that so that the bevel is on the right hand side. But, I had a few viewers say that the top of the parting blade should be ground down until it is flat. Then is will part off without leaving a nub.
