    I don't think that is stainless steel. An open crucible with slag on top skimmed and then laddled into the form... More likely an aluminum alloy. Also, the gray deposits on the guy's fingers point to aluminum/tin...

    I'd guess zinc. A lot nonferrous die castings are Zinc alloys like Zamak.

    I agree it does appear to be aluminum or an alloy of same.
