    Actually, they use this static technique for modeling grass, but this is making evergreen trees. Pretty cool results!

    The tree frame was sprayed with contact adhesive. That was at the very beginning of the video 0:03

    In some other applications, they spray glue on a surface and sprinkle the "grass" through an charged screen.

    If you search for "model static grass applicator" on YT, you can see examples.
