Few thoughts: When did this happen? Is it political given the USA actions against Brazil's northern neighbor?
Is it symbolic that Liberty fails but the corporations remain intact?
Or is it just bad luck during a bad storm?

So much for the US Statue of Liberty, with the plaque reading, ""Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free." at the base

This poem was written in 1883 to help raise funds for the statue's pedestal and has since become a symbol of hope for immigrants.

I know, not supposed to be political, should not be a political issue, just facts. ALL of my ancestors were immigrants.

The ancient Roman structures are still standing after millennia!!.. During the two World Wars, the fighting armies in Europe crossed ancient Roman bridges with heavy tanks and field artillery. Modern concrete buildings typically last from 50 to 100 years. Roman concrete lasted for more than 2000 years!

Roman concrete was much different than concrete today. Ours is based on Portland cement, developed in the early 1800's
