Stuck parachutist rescued back into airplane - GIF

Stuck parachutist rescued back into airplane. I believe this is correct form - curling up your body like that, to protect your reserve ripcord?

When he went to jump, the lanyard that is supposed to open is chute became stuck. It may have been a badly packed chute or a bad pack.

Looks almost as though the waist strap on his pack had hung up on a grab bar or handle
Good thing they didn't pull on the static line
Never try to tell me it can't be done

That does look like a scary ride. Isn't the yellow strap the static line? looks to me like the crew on the plane put there hands on that a couple of times during the video. Sure would have ended differently if they had pulled very hard.
