swanee here
I've been building things since Dad introduced me to his workshop at age 4. Guess he figured out I was sneaking down there anyway. 50+ years later, 40+ as a machinist/toolmaker, I still have all my digits!
I always try to do things myself, brewing, carpentry, photography, camping, etc. If it is something you enjoy, why not enjoy building the things to have fun with!

Hi swanee - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
Sounds like you have some serious experience. Anything interesting next up on your projects list? See anything here that catches your eye?

Hi swanee,
Welcome! :welcome:
I agree 100% with your philosophy of self-reliance. Why not build one's own stuff?
What are you working on at the moment?

Welcome to the forums, swanee! :welcome: 4 decades of machining is a skill set that deserves much respect. Glad to have you here.

The project which led to finding you guys is to build a 2x72 belt grinder for knife making and all the other stuff it would be useful for.

Lots of grinder ideas around here, to be sure. Have you found one or two yet that appeal to you?
