Technical animation of hay baler mechanism - video

It took someone quite a while to cad all those parts then assemble and animate them

The mechanism that always intrigued me was the twine knot-er. As a kid I would manually cycle a New Holland 68 baler to watch the knot tying (~1966). And I've seen this same mechanism in 1930's shock tying horse drawn machinery. I wonder how many prototypes were made to get that to work.

I hear ya, our bailer used wire so it was a simple twist action, I prefer wired bales as the wire has many uses after wards where as the twine not so many

The interesting part here for me is the accumulation of hay under the plunger until somehow it knows there is sufficient material to kick it up in front of the next stroke. I wonder how they ensure equal distribution over the 3' high chamber?
