    Thin collet for lantern chuck

    Hi All
I needed to thread some 3/16” diameter x 1/4” long round head brass rivets 7BA to hold the baffle plate angles to the side plates of the water tank for my 3”scale Foden steam wagon.

I made a lantern chuck a few years back to thread 1/4 diameter copper rivets 2BA for stays for the boiler which were considerably longer.

To machine the short and smaller diameter rivets a small collet was machined so there was enough protruding out to be threaded but still allowing the chuck to clamp the rivets.

    Photos below show the results
