seems there would be a clearance issue with the vertical chuck hitting the horizontal one.
Nice build and finish again! Congrats.
Feedback point: -It would be most helpful to fellow HMT:ers, if you took a few seconds
showing how it works and how you made it, not merely showing it off from 4 different angles.
Personal 2 cents

Machining 4 All,
Nice looking work, but a mini lathe or any screw cutting lathe equipped with an auxiliary spindle is already capable of milling threads and will do the same work without modifications. This modification seems like a lot of work with little corresponding benefit.
This is just my personal observation.
This device was built to help me with other projects. Thank you for your interest!
This is a photo of my first machining test with this device. The idea would be to make a second complete video, showing other details and applications. However, "experts" on this forum have already condemned this device in advance. Rest assured, I no longer intend to occupy you with my bad ideas...

Please don't give up. I'd love to see the potential of it. Thanks for posting it. I'd also be interested to see how it's made.
Machining 4 all; The only bad ideas are the ones in which an injury to a person occurs, everything else is and has a variable amount of usefulness.
Just because there is already machine which is capable of doing something doesn't necessarily mean everyone owns one or wants to buy one.
That being said I have a couple of questions about your device.
#1 do you have an indexing feature on it? I noticed in the photo of the job you are incorporating it on has multiple starts for the helix groves.
#2 Do you change the thread pitch by swapping out gear combinations?
#3 what would be the minimum useful TPI or MM per thread reasonably achievable?
#4 By the way I like your idea for the device
Thanks for the interest Floradawg and Frank S! Unfortunately, some of our "experts" on this forum are very good at criticizing, however, they haven't had any more projects since the 1940s. It is not the first time that they have done this with me and other collaborators in this forum! This thread is dead to me, feel free to remove your thanks!
