Or, run the nut on as far as you can until it won't move, lay the nut on a hard surface and whack it with a hammer on 2 or 3 flats. Spin it on further and whack the nut a few more times. Repeat this until all of the threads are restored. I've never had this NOT work. No need for a special tool, just the right size nut and a hammer.
