Thanks for that very informative video. Thread cutting is something I try to steer around on my Myford ML7 without a gearbox - setting up the gear train is a pain. I have so far only tried straight feeds on the cross slide and have had reasonably good results, even in the days when my turning skills were in their early stages. (I even managed to cut an extended cross slide feed screw for the Myford extended cross slide which turned out far beyond my expectations).
I had a Logan with change gears so I understand. I did however do a lot of threading. My next lathe had then QC gearbox, what a difference! It makes me wonder why they would make a lathe without one. With that being said, a lathe with change gears is much better than no lathe!
