Hey guys,
Had a bit of a disaster with my original tool post grinder so decided to make a new one. The first model ran a motor from a ride on toy car but unfortunately lacked grunt not to mention torque. It did perform adequately until I needed to cut a square shaft on the mini with a 10mm milling cutter then gave up the ghost. The power supply overheated, motor stopped.

Nice work Stevoh and my kind of video. I like your old school methods and have long admired your hand engraving skills. A nice little grinder but perhaps not up to milling work in that configuration.

What speed control did you use?
The speed control is JYQD_V7. 3E1, brush less motor controller, can find on Google. The motor says BG42830 on it, but I can't find it online. I haven't tested motor thoroughly yet but it has plenty of torque so I reckon fast enough for what I do, cheersQuote:

Would the bearings of the previous design not be more accurate and longer lasting than the motor's?
I want to build this only once, but do not think I will ever use it as a mill, just a grinder.

Bearings technology has come a long way, but you get what u pay for. I did notice the bearings in my current motor looked similar to the ones in the shaft in my first so I guess a decent motor runs decent bearings. (they were both sealed) and If you run er16 collets in your grinder the the option to mill or drill is always there, so maybe there'll come a time...
