Wow! Never seen such a plough before. Does a good job in that soil type.

Have to be pretty sure there are no big rocks hidden under the surface. I do wonder what is the purpose of that?

I wondered the same. It looks like a sandy loam soil, and there are vines in the background. It is forming a raised bed. Perhaps this is to help promote more rapid deep root growth, so it is a deep tilling operation...

Looks like it could be the rejuvenation of a rice field that has been fallow for a number of years

That was done in the late 20's in North America. Different methods, but the idea of very deep tilling was the same. Led to the dust bowl. I had friends that were young during that time in the 70's. The stories that I listened to as a little kid. No rain, soil that completely blew away in some areas. Then locusts that ate everything. Even stopped locomotives because so many were crushed under the wheels back then. Things to remember. It doesn't work. deep tilling over entire fields is not a good idea. That's why in the prairies in the USA and Canada the best method of planting is via air powered seed drills. Literally zero tillage and the seeds are shot into the ground.

Drought, overgrazing and excessive land cultivation for grain crops which removed the natural grasses leaving bare earth exposed to the dry winds were the real causes of the Dust bowl. Not deep tilling itself but all tilling, where no account was taken for wind erosion.
