    Ranald, I had a thought about Paulonia, the supposed miracle tree of the late 80s, early 90s...near worthless timber for any use but shutter blades, and then only if mature enough to have a close(r) ring count, sort of the oxymoron of fast growing 'weed' species ...and very careful drying without case hardening, (very difficult in very low density timbers). Probably the only thing it had going for it was fast growth, but at the cost of useless fibre, go figure...

    Yeah Jim. It was another fizzer like rabbits, cane toads, foxes, privit, blue top, GRT but a bit easier to manage. Easier than our teatrees in the US everglades.
