They do work great except the bottom unit needs to be connected to the top unit with a loose rope in case the bottom frame slipped off of his boots. That happened to a friend of mine while deer hunting. While he was stuck way up there, he recalled something in the assembly instructions about a safety rope. He had to climb out of his seat, bear hug the tree and burn a lot of bark going down.
